ICPVTR provides world-class education and training in counter-terrorism for serving and future leaders. The Centre also has attachment programmes forserving officers from law enforcement agencies worldwide.
ICPVTR started its off-shore counter terrorism capacity-building initiative in 2005. The Centre assisted in the establishment and initial operation of the Centre for Conflict and Peace Studies (CAPS) in Kabul, Afghanistan.
ICPVTR offers the following training courses:
Certificate in Terrorism Studies (CTS)
  • MSc. (Strategic Studies) students may also opt for a specialized coursework track that would lead to the conferring of both an MSc. (Strategic Studies) degree from Nanyang Technological University as well as a special Certificate in Terrorism Studies from the Institute’s prestigious International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research (ICPVTR). MSc. (Strategic Studies) students opting for the CTS track must take the two MSc. (Strategic Studies) core courses, 4 specially selected elective courses, and write a dissertation on a terrorism-related topic.
  • Counter-Terrorism Leadership Programme
ICPVTR also offers a Counter-Terrorism Leadership Programme, CTLP, for professional attachments.
Participants require experience from the following industries: Law enforcement, Intelligence, Military, and any other industry that is related to security services. Participants will be required to attend the counter-terrorism related modules offered in the given trimester of the RSIS Master of Science programme. In addition, they will be required to work at ICPVTR and turn in agreed upon assignments while attached to the Centre.
At the end of the 3 months programme, participants who have successfully met the requirements would be awarded a non-credit certificate from the Centre.
