Political Objective
The objectives of LET are the liberation of Jammu and Kashmir and the creation of three separate independent Muslim homelands within India. The first one merges Kashmir with Pakistan and the second and the third ones are to be achieved by liberating Muslim majority areas in North and South India respectively. The means by which this is to be carried out is jihad. "The jihad in Kashmir would soon spread to entire India. Our Mujahideen would create three Pakistans in India." This will be accomplished, he said in a year later in an interview, by arousing (Indian) Muslims 'to rise in revolt..so that India gets disintegrated'. In Hafiz Mohammad Saeed's own words, "Kashmir is only our base camp. The real war will be inside India as we consider Himachal Pradesh (India) as the door to Jihad in India. Very soon we will enter India via Doda and unfurl the Islamic flag on Red Fort (New Delhi). The LET 'agenda', as outlined in a pamphlet titled "Why are we waging Jihad?", includes the restoration of Islamic rule over all parts of India. The pamphlet reportedly describes jihad as being obligatory for taking back Spain where the Muslims ruled for 800 years; the whole of India, including Kashmir, Hyderabad (in Indian State of Andhra Pradesh), Assam (India), Nepal, Burma, Bihar (India), Junargarh (India), Palestine occupied by Israel, Hungary, Cyprus, Ethiopia and Russia etc. LET also seeks to turn Pakistan into a pure Islamic state and to further wage jihad like in Chechnya and Afghanistan, where un-Islamic governments are in power.
