Hizbul Mujahideen (HM)

The main objective of HM is the independence of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir and its integration with Pakistan. It wants to liberate Kashmir from what it calls Indian "occupation and oppression." It also wishes to facilitate the spread of Islam in Kashmir. The US Patterns of Global Terrorism Report identifies Hizbul Mujahideen as supporting 'the liberation of Kashmir and its accession to Pakistan, although some cadres are pro- independence.' Other Objectives: 1. To create awareness for jihad among Muslims and prepare them to assist the Mujahideen in the "islamisation" of Kashmir. 2. To raise resources for the Mujahideen involved in jihadi activities and help the refugees and all those who are affected by jihad in Kashmir.
