Harkatul Jihad Al Islami Bangladesh (HuJI-B)

The aim of HUJI-B is to establish Islamic rule in Bangladesh by violent means and exterminating members of the intelligentsia. Reportedly it draws inspiration from Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban regime of Afghanistan. In the past the group has used a slogan, 'Amra Shobai Taleban, Bangla Hobe Afghan' which means 'We are all Talebans and we will turn Bangladesh into Afghanistan'. It clearly shows the overall strategic intent of the group and its objective to proclaim an Islamic state in Bangladesh. Influenced by a strong Wahaabi ideology the group is against all forms of cultural practices such as music, dance and other performing arts. Furthermore, it is also against both foreign and local NGO's operating in Bangladesh.
